Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about our rigging services
What is LOLER and why is it important?
LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998) is UK legislation requiring all lifting equipment to be thoroughly examined and tested at specified intervals - typically every 6 months for rigging equipment. All our chain motors, hoists, shackles, and rigging hardware are LOLER certified with current test certificates. This ensures equipment safety and legal compliance for your event.
Do you provide certified riggers?
Yes, we work with a trusted network of qualified freelance riggers and specialist rigging companies who carry out all rigging installations. All personnel hold industry-recognized qualifications and certifications, with extensive experience across all event types and venue configurations. We coordinate certified rigging professionals as part of our complete rigging service, ensuring safe and professional installations every time.
Can you work in venues without existing rigging points?
Absolutely. We provide comprehensive ground support systems for venues without overhead rigging points. Our free-standing ground support towers range from 3m to 10m in height and can support lighting, audio, and AV equipment safely without any ceiling or structural attachment. Ground support is ideal for marquees, warehouses, conference centers, and outdoor events.
What documentation do you provide?
We provide complete safety documentation for every rigging installation including: Risk Assessments (RA), Method Statements (MS), LOLER test certificates for all lifting equipment, structural load calculations and rigging plans, and insurance documentation. All documentation is prepared to meet venue and licensing requirements and can be submitted for approval before the event.
How far in advance do you need rigging plans?
For complex rigging installations requiring structural calculations and venue approval, we recommend providing plans at least 2-3 weeks before the event. This allows time for engineering calculations, venue liaison, and safety documentation preparation. For simpler installations using ground support or basic overhead rigging, we can work with shorter notice subject to equipment availability and crew scheduling.
What are working load limits (WLL)?
Working Load Limit (WLL) is the maximum load that rigging equipment is certified to lift safely under normal working conditions. All our chain motors, shackles, slings, and rigging hardware are clearly marked with their WLL ratings. We calculate total loads including equipment weight, safety factors, and dynamic loads to ensure all rigging is specified correctly and operates well within certified limits.
Do you provide nationwide coverage?
Yes, we provide rigging services across the UK through our nationwide network of trusted partners. Whether your event is in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Scotland, Wales, or anywhere across the UK, we can provide professional rigging solutions with local crews and equipment. Our partner network ensures consistent quality and safety standards nationwide.
